Frequently Asked Questions

All of the commonly asked questions answered here.

Due to the Government not recognising cannabis as having any medicinal value, we are not allowed to make any recommendations.

If we do, the MHRA and other agencies could consider this as making a claim about our products as treatment, therefore promoting it as medicine could be breaking these rules.

The other reason we cannot make any recommendation is because we as humans, have different lifestyles and interactions and as such our bodies will respond differently to the individual extracts- which means what is good for one, may not be good for another. For example, two people with the same condition on paper may respond differently to the exact same extract. This is why we offer a range of extracts in the hope that when you choose our oils, you will be able to find the best to suit you as an individual.

We offer three main types of extract, each sourced from a different category of Cannabis plant- Indica, Sativa and Hybrids (the latter, a combination of Sativa & Indica). These extracts are all full plant extracts, each offering a different cannabinoid and terpene profile. There are lots of independent groups on Facebook who would be happy for you to contact them for advice, one such group is Herbal Alternatives where users are able to more openly discuss their own personal experiences.

Due to the way people interact with the extracts it is difficult to offer advice so we generally suggest that people start low and slow to build up if required.

Oil – 2-3 drops for 10 to 14 days then adding another drop to your routine until you find a level that helps.

Capsules – we advise to start low and slow when taking CBD so please start with one capsule which can be taken orally with a drink.  Once you have been taking for 10 to 12 days and no improvements are noticed, increase the dose gradually over time and repeat until a suitable level is found.

Whole Plant Extract (Paste) – We would suggest that you use an amount the size of a grain of rice (1 – 2 per dosing) and rub it into your gum, this will allow the cannabinoids to be absorbed into the system. This can be done at any time of day either before or after eating.

These methods will allow the cannabinoids to be absorbed into your Endocannabinoid system. This can be done at any time of day either before or after eating.

The above methods are recommended doses and can be altered to suit each individual. Each person is individual so this will vary from person to person.

Please allow 2 hours between taking pharmaceutical medication and our CBD products.

Grown outside under the sun we have 2 Sativa extracts, the Green Edition which is a Cannabis Sativa and the Blue Edition which is a Hemp Sativa. We also have Cannabis Indica dominant hybrid in the Purple Edition, which contains 70% Indica and 30% Sativa.

Then we have our original Silver, White, Red and Black Editions, these all use the same Cannabis Indica extract diluted to 4 different concentrations, this strain is grown under lights in a controlled environment in Guernsey for maximum cannabinoid content and yield, the cost of production is much higher.

Our Gold Edition oil is a Cannabis Sativa dominant hybrid containing 95% Sativa and 5% hand pressed Cannabis Indica rosin, grown in our 2 acre greenhouse in Guernsey.  Which is a controlled environment to maximise cannabinoid content and to ensure our extracts are of the highest quality.

The two main strains of cannabis are Indica and Sativa, these can then be cross-bred to create a third strain called a hybrid. Within these strains there are thousands of variations much like the grapes used to make wine. Each of the two main cultivars (strains) have different ratios of cannabinoids & terpenes. The naturally occurring chemical compounds that develop as the plant grows, which in turn results in their own range of effects on the body and mind, resulting in a wide range of benefits. Indica strains generally provide a sense of deep body relaxation. Sativa strains tend to provide a more energising experience.

Sadly, we are unable to offer any advice on the use of our CBD products for cancer treatment, this is because they are not sold or made as cancer treatments. The Government has a very specific piece of legislation called the ‘1939 Cancer act’ which prohibits any discussion around the use of any treatment that is not approved. We understand that people will want to do whatever they can to try and beat cancer and the movement around ‘cannabis kills cancer’ is, we are afraid, not strictly true.

Cancer is a complicated condition that takes several lifestyle changes to treat, cannabis is just one of the tools available to us. There is a forum on Facebook you could try and join, “Herbal Alternatives” which includes qualified medical herbalists and well-informed CBD users where the use of our products can be openly discussed.

The FSA have advised that consumers who take prescribed medication should not take CBD without discussing this with a medical practitioner.

However, for our customers that are already consuming CBD and feel that they wish to continue taking CBD with their prescribed medication it is a personal choice as the FSA are only issuing guidelines.

Please allow 2 hours between taking pharmaceutical medication and our CBD products.

Due to the nature of the process, our CBD products are hand made in batches and therefore there can be slight differences between each batch. This can possibly affect the smell, taste, colour and consistency of the products. Please be assured, we test every batch to ensure that they provide the correct amount of CBD as printed on the packaging. Therefore, any differences between the batches should not cause any concern.

CBD is generally not a controlled substance so in most cases, however, due to the nature of the product some countries’ border forces may consider it to be cannabis oil.

You could check the country’s Cannabis legislation that you are visiting, for the current rules on traveling into the country with CBD products but we would advise not to travel with CBD abroad.

Please be aware that some of our products, except the Pure THC Free range, do contain trace levels of THC and therefore could show as positive on a road side or employer drug test. Upon a urine or blood test it should be apparent that there are high levels of CBD not THC however this would depend on the quality of the testing equipment being used and therefore if you feel this could in anyway effect your ability to pass a drug test or jeopardise your employment you should either discuss the matter with your employer before taking CBD or not take the products. CBD Brothers cannot be held liable in the event of individuals failing a drugs test.

Very sorry the FSA guidelines advise consumers not to take CBD when pregnant or breastfeeding.

Unfortunately, because we suspend our extract in a cold pressed hemp seed carrying oil- if you get some onto the thread of the bottle, it can act like a lubricant and undo the bottle top. To stop this happening, we recommend that you clean it thoroughly, both on the bottle thread and on the lid. Also, the bottle should always be kept stored upright once opened.

This will be given the highest of priorities. Please follow our missing orders link  where you will find instruction on how to report this to us – https://cbdbrothers.com/missing-orders/

All mammals have an endocannabinoid system and as such, giving them cannabinoids should help promote wellbeing. However, the Vets Association are (quite rightly) very protective about what we can say about treatment
